I purchased a small table-top print press, and have been experimenting with that for the past week, along with other printing techniques.

 Acetate printing technique with layers of other carved stamps on top of watercolor.

A drawing a day: 5. lotus flowers

Drawing a day july 5th! Watercolor flowerrrsssss!! These are done in watercolor on watercolor paper with black and white ink. I made a couple to send as thank you's for my two relatives that gave me graduation gifts. The green/yellow one got sent, the purple/blue is up for sale in my Etsy Shop!

comic: new sheets

A silly little comic. My sheets are now pink and made of luxurious and inexpensive jersey fabric.

Resin experiments

Here is a tiny glimpse at my first resin attempts!

I have an easy casting low-odor resin kit, and these specially made molds. I've seen a lot of people make candy-filled pieces, and they were so cute I decided that would be my first attempt.

Lego heels! My attempt!

 

LEGO HEELS. If you saw it floating around on the internet, an artist made an adorable pair of lego heels. Inspired, I decided to try and make my own. Now, these aren't completely finished (I ran out of legos) but they are pretty close to done.

Now where does one wear a delightful pair of heels such as this?

Tornado lady painting in progress

 

Wood painting progress! We recently had a tornado in my state, so this image of a lady tornado have been in my mind. This is acrylic on a wood board. I did the drawing with a watercolor stick so I could wash off the drawing lines if I made a mistake (although composition-ally I think I put the lady in a little low)

23rd birthday!

My 23rd birthday was on may the ninth of this year, and I had a lovely magical time.

I really like celebrating... holidays and birthdays are things I really look forward to. That is why every year I try to squeeze as much birthday activity as I possibly can.

We had the family party on sunday: Takeout sushi, box of chocolates, silly birthday hat, magical rainbow my little pony cake.

My boyfriend is so sweet and understands how important my birthday is to me. He took me into the city so I could go to all my favorite places, we ate sushi for lunch, and hot pot for dinner. We had bubble tea, went to the comic book shop, got beads at the bead store, cake in chinatown, and he drove the whole time so I didn't have to be stressed in traffic.

 Looking at these pictures again is making me hungry

An unusual meeting

Going through more older art... As I am preparing to graduate, I am starting to work on my website, causing me to go through piles of older work to look for appropriate work to put up as-is, or to re-do. The following image is not going on the new site, but I thought it was worth sharing.

This is not the whole image and does not represent the intended composition, I unfortunately don't have the time to scan this drawing in pieces and put them together in photoshop (image is bigger than my scanner bed.)

 

Watercolor times! sea shells

A couple of paintings done for my watercolor class


 I love the beautiful patterns that kosher salt makes on watercolor paintings. My teacher really liked this one, and said that I should make a set of shell paintings like this, and that I could sell those to a card company.

The shell I chose is really different than the other ones that were chosen by the rest of the students, this one had a beautiful pattern on it, and is small and round. The others are large with lots of sharp edges that cause dramatic shadows. My teacher has commended me for choosing a shell that's so hard to paint, but I've enjoyed the challenge of trying to paint the pattern so that it looks like its a part of the shell. (I don't think I've achieved this just yet, but maybe by the end of the class I will)This clearly is not a shell, but I had so much fun doing the rainbow shell painting I decided to do another one while it dried. A piece of sushi was a easy and simple shape to render quickly. Also I was probably craving sushi at the time...

Cat rackham!

CAT RACKHAM by Steve Wolfhard is the best comic you should be viewing with your eyes if you are not already viewing it. I love it and it's amazing and so I decided to make the character out of clay because he is adorable.

I kind of forgot to sand him down after I baked him, so he isn't as smooth as he's supposed to be, but still decently cute. Measured he is 2 inches tall! He's having a great time hanging out on my desk.

More sketchbook dumpings

"dumping" is probably not a great word to describe posting pictures from my past sketchbooks but we'll go with it for now. Here are a collection of sketches!

This is a little sketch that I plan to refine and maybe do some paintings of.

Super old sketch for an Alice and wonderland project in a Black and white class in college. I did do a finished piece but I have no idea where that went. I want to redo this in color, because I actually really like this sketch for some reason.
